Plot summary
Pally LaMarr is a Boston police officer. A heart attack forces him to retire, and the loss of the job leaves him depressed. His wife, Charlotte, asks his half-brother Ray to visit and lift his spirits. Ray is a crook on a small scale, and he talks Pally into putting money into a long-shot racehorse. The jockey Ray brings in, Tony LaRoche, owes money to Frank Finnegan, a Boston mob boss, and that debt falls on Ray and Pally too.
