Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Day of the Siege (2012)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Director Renzo Martinelli said the film's title deliberately alludes to the 11 September 2001 attacks, noting that in 1683 300,000 soldiers marched from Constantinople towards Vienna, yet the Battle of Vienna itself was fought on 12 September 1683.
- It took the makers of the film ten years to raise its $13,000,000 budget, a decade of fundraising before the historical drama could go ahead.
- For its battle scenes the production used over 10,000 extras and 3,000 horses, alongside more than 100 actors from Poland, the United States, Italy, Romania, Turkey, Greece, Spain and France.
- Filmmakers could not get permission to use castle structures in Poland, so although Wilanów Palace interiors were used, the castle exteriors standing in for King Jan III Sobieski's were shot in Mantua, Lombardy.
