A famous diamond, the Codix Stone, is what Jack Wells hopes to get. He travels to Egypt and joins a group of archaeologists at a newly discovered tomb. The tomb is that of Neferu, a cursed king. The king is cursed by nature, not by his name. When his centuries-old slumber is disturbed, the king rises from the dead as a mummy. The mummy seeks human victims.
