Plot summary
A Broadway stage show built around the album American Utopia is captured live, with David Byrne at the center of a band of eleven musicians. The staging grew out of a touring show that supported the record, and the program mixes its songs with material from earlier in his career. Every performer uses wireless or portable equipment, and all of them take up percussion while all but Byrne add backing vocals, so the rhythm and the harmonies come from the whole company. Byrne handles lead vocals and guitar, with keyboards, bass and drums around him.
