Dating Amber (2020) on Netflix

Plot summary

Eddie and Amber are teenagers in The Curragh in 1995, treated as outsiders and facing homophobic abuse. Both are closeted, so they decide to pose as boyfriend and girlfriend and end the talk about them. Amber is trying to escape a life overshadowed by her father's suicide and wants a lesbian punk life somewhere more liberal; she is putting money aside for London by quietly renting caravans to local teenage couples on her mother's park. Eddie, unsure of his own sexuality, is expected to join the Irish Army like his father, a man who is often absent. Trips to Dublin bring the pair into the city's gay culture.
