Plot summary
Dick and Gina are newly married and crossing the Nevada desert at night on their honeymoon. Before they leave, a stranger tells Dick that other couples have gone missing out there and that he should stay on the Interstate. The couple realize they are going the wrong way and leave the highway for another road. Dick switches off the headlights to drive by starlight, then turns them back on and swerves around a figure standing in the middle of the road. Stopping to look, Dick and Gina find a man badly hurt in a car crash. With no phone signal, they decide to take him to a hospital themselves. A few miles farther on, the road comes to a sudden end.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Dark Country (2009)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Thomas Jane's plan to shoot Dark Country in 3D lost him his deal with Lionsgate, which backed out and let Jane and writer Tab Murphy take the script to Sony Pictures, whose home video division wanted content for its new line of 3D televisions.
- Thomas Jane has voiced disappointment that the studio gave Dark Country no theatrical run, releasing it on DVD without the intended 3D, and that the released cut of the film is far from his preferred version.
- Dark Country's 3D was captured with two Silicon Imaging HD heads at 2K resolution, built by Hector Ortega and Stephen Pizzo of Element Technica and supervised by Geoff Boyle, Max Penner, Tim Thomas and Paradise FX; their small size allowed more fluid camera movement than earlier 3D cameras.
- To control how strong the 3D looked in any given scene of Dark Country, director Thomas Jane devised a color-coded system so his cameraman would know how intense he wanted the effect to be.
