Plot summary
In a small Tennessee town, Daltry Calhoun has built a business selling seed and sod, and his television commercials have made him a local celebrity while his turf reaches many exclusive golf courses. His ex-girlfriend arrives without warning with June, the fourteen-year-old daughter he is estranged from, a girl with a gift for music. The mother explains that her illness has led her to seek Daltry out in the hope that he will care for June. At the same time, Daltry's career has become unstable and he is liquidating his assets to salvage what he can. He wants to make up for lost time with June and to get his business back on track.
