Plot summary
Charlie Hinton works in marketing at Ample Foods and has just enrolled his son Ben at Chapman Academy, an academic preschool run by Gwyneth Harridan. On Ben's first day, Charlie and his best friend Phil Ryerson learn that the company is closing their division and laying off hundreds of employees. Charlie tells his wife Kim at dinner and promises to find work. Kim returns to her job as a lawyer, but after six weeks Charlie has found nothing, and the bank forces him to take Ben out of Chapman. Finding no alternative he likes, Charlie opens a day care in his home with Phil's help and calls it Daddy Day Care. Only a handful of parents enroll, drawn by a price below Chapman's.
