Plot summary
Louis, who is twenty-two, and Jack have been friends since they were children. Louis has started making his first attempts at grown-up business, and those attempts keep colliding with Jack's refusal to care much about anything. Louis does not know if the friendship will survive the day. On a hot summer day he makes plans with Andrew, a friend he has picked up more recently, and Jack refuses to be left behind, in the literal sense and in every other one.
