Plot summary
Maude Chalmers sells artificial flower arrangements and has opened her house, a former funeral home, to travelers, hoping the income will help. Her husband James, an undertaker, has been gone for years. Heather, her granddaughter, arrives at the start of summer to stay, and Billy Hibbs, who lives there, works as the property handyman. A farmer named Sam reports a car left abandoned on his land, and it belongs to a real estate developer who has gone missing while surveying the area. Harry Browning and his companion Florie take a room; Maude wants them gone once she learns they are not married, but they stay. Heather hears her grandmother talking to a man downstairs and Maude denies it.

- Actress Lesleh Donaldson said her co-star Kay Hawtrey hated director William Fruet and was a nervous wreck nearly every morning. Donaldson added that Hawtrey claimed Fruet made her do too much at the end, and that crew members doubled for her in the cellar axe scene.
- The house standing in for the Chalmers Funeral Home was not a funeral home but a gabled mansion on Reesor Road in Markham, Ontario. Director William Fruet later reused it as the O'Dell House in the two-part Goosebumps episode "Night of the Living Dummy III", which he co-produced.
- Lesleh Donaldson said director William Fruet changed scenes off-the-cuff at the last minute, so she sometimes wasn't called in for the day but then got a call ordering her to the set to perform a scene she hadn't memorized.
