Plot summary
Word spreads of a Bigfoot-like creature around the Louisiana-Arkansas border. Pahoo and Rives, students at the University of Chicago, spend their spring break there trying to document it. They begin interviewing witnesses, among them a family whose car crashed when the creature came at them on the road. The child of that family, Orville Bridges, lives with his grandparents, who take the students in but are slow to talk, afraid the men will present them as superstitious rednecks. The grandparents warm to them, and Grandpaw Bridges shares his own meetings with the creature.
