Tony Kendall

Biography

Tony Kendall was an Italian actor. Born Luciano Stella in Rome in 1936, he first worked as a model for Italian photo comics known as Fumetti before entering films under his birth name in 1957. Vittorio De Sica advised him to take the name Tony Kendall. He was best known for playing the private eye Jo Louis Walker, the lead in the Kommissar X series, and he appeared in more than 40 movies. His credits ranged from giallo and spaghetti Westerns to horror and crime thrillers. In spaghetti Westerns he played Django, the roving gunslinger, in Django Defies Sartana and also Gunman of 100 Crosses. He played Sirgurd in the horror film When the Screaming Stops and the hit man Peter Zacari in Machine Gun McCain. He also worked with Brad Harris on several films. Kendall died in 2009.
