Plot summary
Sarah, a graduate student writing a dissertation on the effects of pornography, and Josh, a croupier, are a married couple in Las Vegas. They introduce themselves to Dale, the new neighbor across the street, who tells Sarah that she reminds him of someone. Sarah then passes out and dreams with vivid realism that she is being murdered. She wakes to find her clothing changed and the room cleaned, and her original shirt, bloodied, in the laundry. A prominent scar on her body has disappeared. Josh asks her to speak with Leslie, a pregnant doctor and friend who has had similar experiences; Leslie calls them night terrors and prescribes a hypnotic. Josh arranges a hotel vacation where Sarah sleeps well, but the symptoms return once she is home.
