Plot summary
Adam Sorg paints at his house by the beach, and his temper lands on his girlfriend Gigi and on anyone who questions his work. At a show at the Farnsworth Galleries, the critic Gregorovich calls him an impostor because of the way he handles color, and the gallerist Farnsworth tells him later that he agrees. Gigi cuts her finger on a nail while picking up a painting Adam has smashed, and the blood on the canvas gives him the shade he has been hunting. Adam cuts his own fingers with a razor to keep painting, working until he collapses, and he tells Farnsworth that he has something big for the gallery.
