Plot summary
Evergreen, a northern Vermont town that draws tourists at Christmas, is the only home Allie Shaw has known. She works there as a veterinarian and, days before the holiday, is preparing to move to Washington DC to join Spencer, the boyfriend she has had for two years, so the two can learn whether distance is what stalled their relationship. Ryan Bellamy, a doctor, and his teenage daughter Zoe are flying to Florida to board a cruise. Since his wife died just over a year ago, Ryan has wanted to avoid Christmas, which she had always handled for the family. Ryan and Zoe stop in Evergreen on the way to the airport and meet Allie. At the diner her parents run, Zoe makes a wish on a snow globe that local legend credits with granting the heart's desire.
