Plot summary
Charlie Chan is called to Egypt when Professor Arnold disappears from the excavation of ancient tombs. Treasures from the dig are reaching private collectors. At Arnold's mansion, Chan meets the professor's daughter Carol, who rejects any charge of dishonesty against her father, and Tom Evans, an archaeologist engaged to her. Dr. Anton Racine lent the expedition money when its funds ran low. Carol's brother Barry was lamed in an accident at the site. The butler, Edfu Ahmed, says the family is marked for death. Inspector Soueida asks Chan for help.
