Plot summary
Betty's family fortune comes from the champagne business, and her father does not approve of her boyfriend, who is sailing to France. Betty takes the airplane to follow him, but the boyfriend is seasick, so she dines alone and meets a mysterious man. A telegram from her father warns that her friends will not admire the boyfriend. To prove him wrong, Betty proposes marriage, and the boyfriend, resenting her control of the relationship, quarrels with her and leaves. When he returns to apologize, he finds her at a chess game with the man, and they quarrel again. Her father then arrives and tells her that the family's champagne fortune is gone.
