- The real Washington, D.C. lobbyist Jack Abramoff was at the center of a massive corruption scandal that led to his own conviction as well as the conviction of two White House officials, Representative Bob Ney, and nine other lobbyists and congressional staffers.
- The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was scheduled for release in December 2010, but it became Hickenlooper's final film: the director died on October 29, 2010, seven weeks before that release.
