Plot summary
Dr. Jimmy Nookey seems to attract trouble at Long Hampton Hospital. He walks into the women's washroom by mistake and frightens Miss Armitage, and Dr. Ernest Stoppidge wants him sacked over it. Nookey falls in love with Goldie Locks, a film star patient. Misadventures with the X-ray machine knock out the hospital's electricity. At a staff party he drinks fruit punch that Dr. Stoppidge has spiked, and the drunken Nookey ends up on a trolley that crashes through a window. Dr. Frederick Carver and his wealthy patient Ellen Moore send the disgraced Nookey to her medical mission in the Beatific Islands, where he finds Gladstone Screwer, a local medicine man with a weight-loss serum.

- The script worried Rank's legal adviser, who found it too close to an unfilmed 'Doctor' script Talbot Rothwell had submitted to producer Betty Box; both used a medical mission and a slimming potion, but the film was cleared because Box had not taken up her option.
- Carry On Again Doctor was Jim Dale's last Carry On film for 23 years, until he returned in Carry On Columbus, and it introduced Patsy Rowlands, the first of her nine appearances in the series.
- The sequence in which Dr Nookey short-circuits the hospital's electrical system and the mayhem that follows was reused as the introduction to the 1980s compilation show Carry On Laughing.
- Composer Eric Rogers arranged the theme from Steptoe and Son for Wilfrid Brambell's appearance, just as he had done with Harry H. Corbett in Carry On Screaming!.
