Plot summary
In the 1930s, under the British Raj, Analeesan, whom everyone calls Eesa, lives in a village where caste decides who is respected, and he wants to enlist in the British Indian Army. His elder brother Sengannan, known as Sengolan, leads a revolution against the British and opposes the plan. Eesa falls in love with Velmathi, a doctor and a king's niece, who loves another man, so he sets the matter aside and enlists. The British cannot pronounce the soldiers' birth names, so he becomes Miller, and he calls himself Captain Miller. His general, Buller, then orders him and his friends Rafiq and Sembatta, called Stephen, to fire on unarmed freedom fighters at a gathering.

- Director Arun Matheswaran met Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar in Bangalore in October 2022 and narrated the entire story of the film in 40 minutes. Shiva Rajkumar was engaged by the narration and agreed to join, marking his second Tamil film after Jailer (2023).
- The film was censored by 4 minutes and 36 seconds in order to secure a U/A certificate for its theatrical release.
- After explosives were blasted for a war sequence, residents of Tenkasi petitioned against the production team for breaching regulations in the KMTR buffer zone, and Tenkasi Collector Durai Ravichandran ordered the filming halted. Filming later resumed at the same location.
- The crew camped in the KMTR buffer zone from the end of January and built a big set on private land; a local farmer reported that an elephant, possibly disturbed by the noise, damaged several coconut trees. Wildlife Warden S. Senbagapriya said she was not informed about filming in the buffer zone and no permission was granted for shooting in Mathalamparai.
- After the release, Vela Ramamoorthy accused the makers of plagiarising his novel Pattathu Yaanai and decided to approach the Tamil Nadu Film Director's Association seeking justice.
