Plot summary
After a derailment in rural Tamil Nadu kills and injures passengers, the authorities blame Makkal Padai, an armed group that opposes a government mining project in its hilltop village, and the state answers with Operation Ghost Hunt, a mission to capture the group's leader, Perumal Vaathiyar. Kumaresan, a newly recruited constable of an empathetic nature, is posted to the E-Company unit as a driver, where strict bureaucracy, poor conditions and the harsh orders of Officer-in-Charge Ragavendar bear down on him. He falls in love with Tamilarasi, known as Pappa, whose grandmother he once took to a hospital after a bear attack. DSP Sunil Menon takes over the operation and works to turn the villagers against Perumal.
