Plot summary
Music matters to Checco, who is clumsy and ignorant and gets mocked for it in his hometown of Polignano a Mare, in Apulia. His girlfriend Angela leaves him, so he goes north to Milan, where he plans to live with his cousin Alfredo and build a singing career. Alfredo shares his home with Manolo, his boyfriend, and has kept that from his family because he fears how they will take it. Checco enters a television singing competition, and he meets Marika and falls in love with her. Her father supports the Lega Nord and the separatist Padania and dislikes Southern Italians.
