Plot summary
Bugs Bunny means to spend the day at the carrot festival in the Coachella Valley, but his wrong turn at Albuquerque brings him up inside a Spanish bullring instead. A cowardly matador there is no match for Toro the Bull, and the man brushes Bugs off when the rabbit asks him for directions. When the bull steams up his tail, Bugs slaps him across the face, and Toro tosses the rabbit out of the ring. That gives Bugs a war to fight, so he puts on a matador's suit of lights and goes back in with an anvil concealed in his cape. Toro can unhook his own horns and turn them into a weapon.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Producer Eddie Selzer burst into Chuck Jones's workspace and announced, for no stated reason, that bullfighting was not funny and no cartoons about it were to be made, so Jones made Bully for Bugs anyway.
- Selzer had also barred Chuck Jones from making cartoons featuring Pepé Le Pew because he found them unfunny, so Jones and writer Michael Maltese made For Scent-imental Reasons instead, and it won an Oscar.
- The crowd and bull noises were not created in the studio: they were recorded from the sounds of an actual bullfighting crowd in Barcelona, Spain.
- The gag of a boulder hitting a character in the face was lifted from Rabbit Punch, another cartoon Chuck Jones had directed five years earlier.
