Plot summary
At Theodore Roosevelt Army Base outside Stuttgart in 1989, Specialist Ray Elwood of the 317th Supply Battalion turns his service into a business. He sells goods on the black market and cooks heroin for Sergeant Saad, who heads the base's military police, while Colonel Berman, his commanding officer, counts him a friend and knows nothing of the deals or of Elwood's affair with Berman's wife. First Sergeant Robert E. Lee, a Vietnam combat veteran, joins the supply company determined to clean it up, and quickly decides that Elwood and his squad are involved in graft. Elwood responds by starting a relationship with Lee's daughter Robyn, and he comes across the weapons trucks and hides what he takes at a missile base.
