Plot summary
In 1996 the Cuban bandleader Juan de Marcos Gonzalez, the British producer Nick Gold and the American guitarist Ry Cooder met in Havana to make a Cuban-Malian record. The Malian players could not get visas, so the session went ahead without them. It instead brought together veteran son cubano players whose careers had been forgotten, and the group that formed became the Buena Vista Social Club. Two decades later five of the original band members go on a final tour that ends in Havana.
