Plot summary
Presley Alan French is 25 and has lived his whole life in a small, wooded town, raised in the shadow of his father after his mother left him when he was young. The town holds a secret militia, The Lodge, that his father, his uncle and other local leaders began years before, when a girl from the area was murdered and the man who killed her was released unpunished. The Lodge sees its work as a mission of justice it chose for itself, and Presley and his cousins are committed to it for life. He has grown uneasy about what the group believes.
