Early training
Gretchen Corbett dropped out of Carnegie Tech after just one year of drama studies to work as a full-time actress.
First role
In 1966, Corbett took her first stage role at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, playing Desdemona in a production of Othello.
A role that slipped away
Corbett departed The Rockford Files when the fourth season ended. The reason was a conflict involving the show's producers and Universal, which held her contract as a contract player.
A first
Corbett relocated to Los Angeles, where Universal Studios had signed her to a contract. She was among the final actors to hold such a contract arrangement with the studio.
Behind the camera
Corbett took on directing duties for a production of the play Bo-Nita, which was staged at Portland Center Stage in 2014.
