Plot summary
Made a year after Luis Buñuel died in 1983, this Spanish documentary assembles a portrait of the Surrealist filmmaker and iconoclast. It draws on photographs, passages from his own films and conversations recorded with Buñuel, alongside testimony from people who knew him, among them other directors, an actor and members of his family. The account reaches back to his youth, when Salvador Dalí and Federico García Lorca were among his friends. It also follows the strong reactions several of his films provoked and the mark he left on cinema abroad. Buñuel is heard in the interviews, and his wife Jeanne Rucar and his son Juan also speak about him.
