Plot summary
Pablo Escobar heads the Medellín cartel, and after police shoot him in 1993, his sixteen-year-old son leaves Colombia with his mother and sister for Argentina and takes the name Sebastián Marroquín because his life is in danger. For ten years he and his mother, María Isabel Santos, say nothing in public. The documentary has them describe the family's past and open archives that stayed private for years. Marroquín also approaches the grown sons of two men his father had killed, the presidential candidate Luis Carlos Galán and the justice minister Rodrigo Lara Bonilla, and the son of the former president César Gaviria, hoping to end the cycle of revenge. Accounts from those sons, along with the country's illegal drug trade and violent recent history, are part of the film.
