Broken English (2007) on Netflix

Plot summary

Nora Wilder's ease with the guests at the Manhattan boutique hotel where she works does not carry over into her own love life. She is single, in her thirties, and holds a job she has outgrown. Her mother, Vivien Wilder-Mann, is loving but dominant and keeps reminding her of it, and the introductions she arranges do not work out. Everyone around Nora is in a relationship, married, or has children, and her best friend Audrey Andrews is married. After several disastrous dates, Nora meets Julien Durand, an unusual Frenchman who shows her a life outside the limits she has set for herself.
