Plot summary
Hope waits tables through the night in Los Angeles and has made several mistakes in her life. The story moves between her first days in the city and the life she has there now, and she came from Ohio hoping to earn a living as an entertainer. In Los Angeles she meets Will, and the two of them become involved with drugs. Hope decides she has to break free of the drugs if her dream is to have a chance, so she ends all contact with him. Will is desperate to win her back and does not accept the separation.
