Plot summary

Bridget Jones is a widow with two school-aged children, Billy and Mabel, four years after her husband Mark Darcy died on a humanitarian mission in Sudan. Daniel Cleaver minds the children while she attends a celebration of Mark's life, where friends and family press her to date again. Recalling what her father Colin wanted for her before he died, and following her doctor's advice, she returns to work as a television producer. On a dating app she is pursued by Roxster, a 29-year-old park ranger, and after days of messages they plan an evening out. Mabel welcomes him; Billy, who is still grieving, does not. Visiting Billy's class to talk about her job, she interviews the science teacher, Scott Walliker.
