Plot summary
Oscar Winterhaven Oglethorpe, a tycoon and philanthropist, dies, and his widow Lillian establishes a ballet company in his name. The job of running it is contested by two lawyers: Roland T. Flakfizer, who chases ambulances, and Edmund Lazlo, who handled Oglethorpe's affairs. Lazlo lands the directorship by bringing in Roberto Volare, the greatest dancer in the world. Flakfizer works his way in as co-director with help from his associates Rocco Melonchek and Jacques, courting the wealthy widow and signing the company's leading ballerina along with her dancer boyfriend, Alan Grant. Flakfizer and Lazlo keep scheming against each other over the company.

- Dennis Dugan wanted Adam Sandler for Brain Donors but the studio refused, and the rapport he built with Sandler led Dugan to direct several later films with him. Dugan also tried and failed to get Chris Farley and Jim Carrey for the lead role of Roland T. Flakfizer.
- Co-star Bob Nelson said Paramount was bitter over the Zucker brothers' move to Columbia Pictures and dumped Brain Donors, cutting its marketing staff from 18 publicists to just one.
- Part of Brain Donors was shot at the Arden Villa in Pasadena, California, a location also used for the Marx Brothers' Duck Soup, the comedy the film riffs on.
