Plot summary
Bobby Bowfinger has wanted to direct since childhood, and now his production fund holds $2,184. He has a script, Chubby Rain, from an accountant named Afrim, and Dave, a camera operator who works as a studio gofer and can borrow equipment. A high-ranking executive, Jerry Renfro, promises to distribute the movie if Kit Ramsey, Hollywood's hottest action star, appears in it. Kit turns him down. Bowfinger gathers a cheap crew, among them Daisy, a would-be actress from Ohio, and Carol, an actress past her peak, and tells them Kit is method acting and will not speak with them off camera. Then he sends them to perform their lines at Kit in public while hidden cameras record him.
