Plot summary
Ali is eighteen and gives little thought to settling down; for him a wedding is a game rather than a life to build. His parents and the parents of his bride have already settled the match between them, and the two households stand to gain from the businesses the union will set up. Ali's attention is elsewhere: he works with puppets and puts on a rooster costume for a traveling theater company, and his fiancée has limited patience with him. His parents, faced with a son who will not take the arrangement seriously, look for another way to satisfy the bride's side. What they settle on is a borrowed bride.
