Plot summary
Three cars cross the countryside around Keskin through the night, carrying police officers, gendarmes, gravediggers, a doctor, a prosecutor and two brothers held as homicide suspects. Kenan, one of the brothers, is meant to lead the group to the grave of the murdered Yaşar Toprak, but he was drunk when it happened and can no longer place the water fountain where the body was buried. The darkness and the sameness of the landscape work against them. Through the hours the men talk about food, family, former wives, death, suicide, hierarchy and their jobs. Before dawn the prosecutor grows hungry, and the cars pull into a village, where the village mayor asks the prosecutor to press Keskin to help fund a morgue for his elderly townspeople.
