Plot summary
Diamonds valued at $100,000 are taken from the safe at the Thomas Aircraft plant, where Michael Shayne has just hired on as a riveter to please Merle Garland and win her back. The theft pulls him into a case he had promised her he would leave behind. Working under false names, among them Colonel Henry Breckenridge Lee and Theodore Sherman Jr., he follows the trail to the Daisy Bell Dress Company and then aboard the Princess Nolo, an ocean liner bound for Honolulu. On the crossing he meets Helen Shaw, an old acquaintance who runs a dress shop in Honolulu, and a fellow passenger, Juan O'Hara. Several attempts are made on his life.

- Jonathan Ferguson credits Blue, White and Perfect as the first film to use the "pew" sound effect for a silenced gun. Sound designer Harry M. Leonard created the sound by modifying a stock ricochet recorded in 1939 for the Twentieth Century Fox sound archive.
