Monica Bannister
Biography
Monica Bannister was a Canadian-born American actress who was born in Forward, Saskatchewan, grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and signed with Warner First National in 1932. Her best-known screen part was Joan Gale in Michael Curtiz's Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933). She played Maybelle in The Cowboy and the Blonde (1941), and filled smaller roles in many 1930s and 1940s films, among them Hypnotized (1932), Jimmy the Gent (1934), The Great Ziegfeld (1936), Broadway Melody of 1938 (1937), Flowing Gold (1940), Accent on Love (1941) and Quiet Please, Murder (1942). Outside movies, she worked as a showgirl at the Hollywood Restaurant and Cabaret, a New York supper club, and in 1932 was named Queen of the Los Angeles Dahlia Show. She died in 2002.
