Plot summary
Don, nineteen, is a sophomore at a Texas junior college, disenchanted with the church and with his devout Christian mother. He wants to leave his Bible Belt upbringing behind, and his secular father points him toward Reed College in the Pacific Northwest, the most godless campus in America. His new classmates there come from all walks of life and are hostile to religion and to much else, more than he is ready for. Wanting to fit in, and just as much wanting to find himself, he joins an activist group on campus, where his own beliefs become something he has to work out.

- Steve Taylor pitched the film to investors for four years before two of them, one in Seattle and one in Los Angeles, agreed to put in $250,000 each. The day before pre-production the Los Angeles investor backed out and the film was scratched.
- Taylor personally telephoned and thanked all 3,300 people who had donated more than $10 through Kickstarter: he had reached half of them by May 2011 and called the remainder by April 2012.
