Plot summary
Vincent Canelli is a violent convict on death row. His girlfriend Hatti plans his escape from prison on the night of his execution. A man posing as a newspaper reporter helps carry it through. Canelli leaves with five hostages: the prison priest, the prison doctor, a guard, a young reporter whose place a gang member took, and the daughter of another guard, kidnapped so her father will help. Peter Manning, another inmate due to die, comes along because he hid robbery money and will not reveal where unless his sentence becomes life in prison.
