Plot summary
Jill Hart looks after four children in the Los Angeles suburbs while her philandering husband Bill is away at work. Their children, Tiffany, Max, Cindy and Jed, see little of their father. Beth, Jill's sister, thinks Bill should be doing far more at home. The stress Jill carries wears her down until she snaps and starts behaving like a dog, snarling and barking at the family from the basement. Bill tries to keep the household going and the situation secret, and Beth presses him to get medical help. He blames Jill for the extra work her condition places on him.
