Plot summary
On the morning of February 12, known as Cupid's Day, Samantha Kingston wakes at 6:50. Her friends Lindsay Edgecombe, Ally Harris and Elody come to fetch her for school, all three caught up in what she has arranged with Rob Cokran, her boyfriend, for that night. During a lecture on Sisyphus, roses are handed out: one arrives from Rob, another from Kent McFuller, a friend from grade school days who is in love with her, and who asks her to a party at his house. At lunch the girls mock Juliet Sykes, an outsider they call a psycho. The day ends, and the morning of February 12 comes around again.
