Plot summary
Julie Rivers is seven months pregnant and due in two months. She and her husband Daniel, a university professor, are moving into an old lakeside house in upstate New York. A worker gives Julie an old bracelet he found while working on the house, and she keeps it. That night a child's whisper comes from down the hallway. Daniel startles her and shows her the nursery, with a crib and a baby monitor that records video. In the hospital Dr. Meadows tells Julie that she and the baby are fine and orders bed rest until the baby is born.
