Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Sightseers (2012)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Sightseers began seven years earlier as a stage routine in which Alice Lowe and Steve Oram played innocent campers who slowly revealed themselves as serial killers. Their short film pitch was repeatedly turned down for being too dark until Lowe sent the link to Edgar Wright, whose interest got Big Talk to greenlight the feature with Wright as executive producer.
  • To prepare, Alice Lowe and Steve Oram researched horror literature and took a caravanning holiday in character, bringing a cameraman along, to the locations that would later appear in the film.
  • Ben Wheatley said the locations were very helpful even after the filmmakers explained the nature of the film, because they wanted to make sure the places were not the butt of jokes.
