Plot summary
Lyle Wilder is a decorated Los Angeles firefighter, honored for his bravery after a crack house fire in which he saved a baby. His wife Marge and son Kenny left him because of his violent tendencies. Lyle blames the family next door, Catherine and Reese Braverton and their two children, Zach and Marcie, believing they manipulated his wife into leaving. He begins to hurt the children and terrorizes the couple. Lyle still loves his wife and resents the Bravertons' happiness. During a heatwave, the feud between the neighbors grows into an assault.
