Plot summary
Donal is a middle-aged farmer in Ireland who lives with his aging mother. When she learns that an old friend, Tommy Rafferty, has died, she is troubled, and Donal cannot account for it. One night he wakes in the RV he has bought and sees a man in a suit drive away from the house. He finds her beaten to death on the living room floor. The authorities give him no help, so he looks into the killing himself. Two masked men attack him in the barn and try to hang him; he fights back, kills one and takes the other, Ben Bartosz, prisoner. Ben was sent under duress, his sister Kaja held against her will, and Donal frees him on condition that he help find whoever ordered it.
