Plot summary
Station 17 of the Chicago Fire Department is where Sean McCaffrey works as an arson investigator, in a division overseen by his uncle, Brian McCaffrey, a deputy district chief with the Office of Fire Investigation. Sean is the son of the late Lieutenant Stephen McCaffrey, known as Bull. He likes to work alone, and he is curt with Captain White when told he has to follow protocol and take a partner, Maggie Rening. The two are assigned a Halloween fire that killed five young people, and they confirm that someone set it deliberately. An arsonist they apprehend says he was offered a large fee to start that fire and turned it down.
