Plot summary
Aurora Teagarden, known as Ro, works as a librarian in Lawrenceton and belongs to Lawrenceton's Real Murders club. Her mother, Aida Teagarden, and her friend Sally Allison would like her to date again, but Ro says she is not ready after Martin Bartell moved away to rejoin the CIA. For her nephew Phillip Pifer's birthday, Ro and Aida plan dinner with his roommate Josh Farrell and Josh's girlfriend Tammy Driscoll. Dinner is missed on a lie from Phillip, and when Ro goes looking she finds Tammy's body in the alley behind the salon where Tammy had a hair appointment. Phillip and Josh are gone, and Detective Arthur Smith treats them as initial suspects because coworkers say Josh and Tammy argued over his possessiveness. Ro, Sally and Jason Dell investigate, joined by her new neighbor Nick Miller, Tammy's psychology professor.
