Plot summary
Raids on empty villages leave the Viking chief Timandahaf with no one to fight. His adviser Cryptograf says that fear gives people wings, and Timandahaf takes the words as fact: his tribe must find a Champion of Fear. The search leads toward Gaul, and Timandahaf's daughter Abba comes along, disguised as a man after her father refused to bring her. In the Gaulish village, chief Vitalstatistix's nephew Justforkix arrives to be made into a man, though he prefers chasing girls and refuses the magic potion. Asterix and Obelix are told to train him. Cryptograf's son Olaf witnesses the boy's cowardice and seizes him, and the two Gauls set out to bring him home.
