Plot summary
At a Wall Street firm during the financial crisis, a portfolio manager tells his staff to put company profits ahead of clients' interests. In New York City, Jim Baxford drives an armored car and once served in the military. His wife Rosie is recovering from a brain tumor, and their health insurance has run out, so he cannot cover her treatment. He tries to cash in his military pension and finds that a financial adviser's bad investments have wiped out much of it, and he faces a $60,000 lawsuit over real-estate deals the same adviser made. A colleague lends him $10,000 for a lawyer to sue the adviser, but the lawyer says he can do nothing, an assistant district attorney will not meet him, and his employer, doubting he can be trusted with money, dismisses him.
